LORA PROJECT GUIDE

LoRa Fire Alarm Systems for Multi-Storey Buildings

Long range in an open area does not guarantee reliable coverage through reinforced floors, shafts, plant rooms or metal structures.

LoRa wireless fire alarm system for a multi-storey building

PROJECT STEP

Build a device and floor schedule

List every detector, call point, siren, repeater, gateway and panel by floor and room, including power availability and required local response.

PROJECT STEP

Mark difficult radio paths

Identify reinforced slabs, lift cores, fire doors, metal racks, plant rooms and long horizontal routes that may affect the proposed topology.

PROJECT STEP

Define repeater and panel assumptions

Record hop limits, supported capacity, panel locations, repeater power and backup, supervision and the response to a lost device or path.

PROJECT STEP

Specify offline behaviour

Document what alarms locally, what reaches the panel, what requires internet or cellular service and how staff are notified during upstream failure.

PROJECT STEP

Test in stages

Validate representative rooms, floor transitions and difficult paths before full installation, then retain signal and functional test records.

PROJECT STEP

Control the final system version

Freeze compatible models, frequencies, firmware, antennas, repeaters, labels and manuals before production and commissioning.

BUYER FAQ

Questions buyers should confirm

How many floors can one LoRa panel cover?

A floor count alone is not a reliable design input. Capacity, construction and measured signal paths determine the required topology.

Are repeaters always required?

Not always, but their need and placement should be based on the building and validated signal plan rather than an open-area distance claim.

What should be tested at commissioning?

Test device enrolment, alarm transmission, local notification, faults, communication loss, backup power and every agreed failure scenario.
